Marina Nicol is a Registered Specialist Practitioner in Occupational Health. She has considerable experience in management, particularly in managing NHS occupational health services both in Acute and Primary Care Trusts. Marina has a reputation for turning failing services into profitable customer-focused services. She has also gained experience working for the private sector and has a sound understanding of organisational needs.

Marina has extensive knowledge of attendance management strategies, case management, training occupational health staff and managers to manage attendance as well as ensuring effective policies and systems are in place to ensure attendance is monitored and managed timely and effectively.

Marina has considerable experience in auditing occupational health departments, focusing on resource effectiveness and systems management. She is able to identify customer needs and train occupational health staff to be customer focused, remembering that the manager is the client in attendance management, not the employee.

Marina has over 19 years’ experience in occupational health, 12 of these at senior management level. She has considerable technical experience of blood borne viruses, infection control, needle stick injury management and prevention, and was the pivotal person in setting up reporting systems and data analysis of workplace injuries.

She is a qualified first aid instructor and examiner, with knowledge of first aid legislation within the workplace. She has qualifications in audiometry and has been instrumental in introducing a noise conservation programme to comply with noise at work legislation. With her MSc in Occupational Health and Safety she has extensive knowledge of health and safety legislation, its interpretation and implementation.
